about Jeff Boughton

Meet Jeff — Founder of Ironwood Athletic

Jeff is the owner and founder of Ironwood Athletic, bringing over 12 years of Olympic weightlifting experience and a deep passion for fitness, athletic development, and community. As a USA Weightlifting (USAW) Level 2 Certified Coach, Jeff has competed in more than 10 weightlifting competitions at both the national and international levels, giving him a strong foundation of experience to share with athletes of all backgrounds.

Beyond the gym, Jeff is deeply connected to the Weaverville community and the place he proudly calls home. Following the devastation of Hurricane Helene, he organized a benefit weightlifting meet to support local businesses impacted by the storm, putting his belief in community action into practice. Having participated in nearly every kind of recreational sport, Jeff understands the value of movement, teamwork, and lifelong athletic development. He is especially passionate about helping young athletes build confidence, develop their skills, and discover the lasting benefits of sports and fitness.

As a father, Jeff knows the importance of creating a positive, supportive environment where people of all ages can grow, connect, and thrive. He loves Weaverville and Western North Carolina, and he founded Ironwood Athletic with a clear vision: to bring people together through fitness, build meaningful relationships, and create a stronger community through movement. For Jeff, fitness is about more than lifting weights—it's about building people up, supporting one another, and creating a place where everyone belongs.
